Legend has it that the papillote was born in 1790 in the shop of the Lyon pastry chef Sieur Papillot. His apprentice, madly in love, offered his beautiful, chocolates wrapped in sweet words.
Noticing the disappearance of his chocolates, Sieur Papillot suspected his clerk, spied on and convicted him.
Charmed by the idea, he took it on his own and replaced the statements with quotations...
